AYBT Nationals Underway
— July 17, 2009The American Youth Basketball Tour National tournament held at Shippensburg University got underway early this morning. Sixty-three boys teams across 6 divisions will be competing for the East Coast championship over a three day period. The tournament will conclude this Saturday with all teams competing in a single elimination tournament where the teams will be seeded based on their performance during the week. With 9 courts, there will be a ton of basketball being played starting at 8am each day and ending with the last game starting at 9:30pm. “The Shippensburg athletic facilities are outstanding and we are very excited about bringing the tour here,” said Denny Parks, the Executive Director of the tour. We are looking forward to increasing the use as the tour grows here making it an ideal fun family event,” he added. Shippensburg University has great things to offer including on campus housing, dining halls, outdoor pavilions for program picnics, and even a movie theater. “As we expand here, we hope to make full use of what this campus has to offer,” said Jim Santoro. Mr. Santoro is a New York Director for the AYBT.
Seven Edge teams will be competing during the week ranging from 11u to 15u. The event will also feature a three point and hot shot contest for all the teams. Chekc back later to see how the Edge teams are faring.
